Kaitlin “Kit” Grode, a senior at Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ, knows she wants to pursue a career in publishing. With laser-like focus, she’s served in leadership positions forÌýpublications such as the , the student newspaper, and the Spectrum, the student literary magazine. WorkingÌýwith her professors and administrators at Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ, Kit has designed a cross-discipline degree to optimize the skills she’ll need to fulfill her dream.
Recognizing she needs off-campus experience, too, Kit arranged a series of three internships. She’s completed the first two –Ìýwith Cornhusker Press in Hastings, Neb., during January Term 2012Ìýand with in Kansas City, Mo., over Summer 2013. Currently, she’s completing theÌýthird internship – with Ìýin Lahinch, County Clare, Ireland – during the Fall 2013 semester.
Kit is one of several Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ students who competed to serve as an Irish Fellow. With guidanceÌýfrom professors, the students design a research project they’ll implement on their own in a foreign country. To succeed in this endeavor requires vision, responsibility, creativity and perserverance.
